Sustainable Transport Systems
Pete Rose and Sam Lissner, NYU Capstone Video Series

Urbanization and population trends are making it difficult for governments to ensure the movement of people and goods. To confront problems of congestion, air pollution and oil dependence, innovative transportation solutions are being planned and implemented in countries around the world. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) and Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure are transforming transportation in the 21st century

We hope that this site will be a forum for thought about the future of mobility.

Much of the initial content is the result of our recent visits to Israel, Abu Dhabi and Spain while writing our masters thesis at the NYU Center for Global Affairs. Our research focused on factors that allocate investment in sustainable transportation initiatives, and while traveling, we met with government officials, investors, corporate managers and civil society members who are actively shaping the mobility landscape. (Itinerary of our research trip.)

In addition to producing a written thesis, we have made a series of three short films that document some of our analysis and observations from the trip. As we continue to survey transportation trends, we hope to use this site to share ideas in a way that is informative, interesting and accessible.

Check back for updates and insights into sustainable transport and urban renewal initiatives around the world. We hope that you post your thoughts, and look forward to your contributions.
